Research with Us

ABSCUBE invites you to join the research team focusing on Engineering Technology Development.

Who can join: Any person (university student or graduate) with a research interest can join the team. Most of our research project is multidisciplinary. So, students of different engineering and technology streams can work together to achieve a common goal. A research team consists of a team leader and several other professional team members. ABSCUBE allows a few interns to join an R&D team to gain professional experience.

Benefits:  Practical experience, working in a team environment, project management, skill development, better communication and presentation skill

How to join: Contact us, see more details on (Click Here)

What are the current projects at ABSCUBE:  Please see below the list of our ongoing projects:

Bionic Arm

Integrating a prosthetic arm to amputees which is practical and sustainable while having the biomimicry of a human hand has been a complex challenge for biomedical and neural engineers.  Here at ABSCUBE, we are developing our own robotic prosthetic arm capable of various finger grip patterns. The project requires skillsets in CAD design, 3D printing, programming micro-controllers and sensor integration with electronic hardware to bring this prosthetic arm to life. This is an excellent opportunity for students to work in a multi-disciplinary project while pushing the boundaries of the biomimetic and prosthetic design industry.

Body-Powered Prosthetic Arm

Here at ABSCUBE, we are developing our own body-powered and cost-effective prosthetic arm capable of basic gripping operations. The project requires skillsets in CAD design, 3D modelling, material engineering, and rapid prototyping technology. The effectiveness and improvement of the prototype will be carried out via clinical trial to bring this prosthetic arm to application in real life. This is an excellent opportunity for students to work on a multi-disciplinary project while pushing the boundaries of the biomimetic and prosthetic design industry. R&D involves:

Robotic Manipulator

Robotic manipulators have widespread applications in various manufacturing settings worldwide. The advent of Industry 4.0 has resulted in innovative research and the application of robotic manipulators. At ABScube, efforts are being made to prototype our very own robotic manipulator capable of pinpoint pick and place operations. This is a multi-disciplinary project requiring a myriad of skillsets ranging from CAD design, actuator sizing and selection, micro-controller programming, ROS-related simulation tasks to 3D printed fabrication. Alongside the mechanical design of components, the project also provides scope to student members to working with electronic hardware and use develop the software responsible for accurate pick and place operations.

Smart Gardening System

The integration of automation to grow crops without any soil is gradually becoming popular in the field of IoT applications. The design and prototyping efforts are underway at ABScube to innovate an automated hydroponics nutrition plant system of their own. Students working on this project will have the opportunity to be involved in an IoT based project where they will get to design control systems software, carry out R&D of the garden while also carrying out sensor integration and tinker around with electronics hardware.

Energy-efficient Biomimicry Road Vehicles

ABSCUBE have designed aerodynamic and energy-efficient car and other road vehicles using biomimicry. Our designed vehicles indicated a lower drag coefficient in computer simulation and wind tunnel tests. A full-scale prototype is under construction.

Rooftop Wind Generator

This project focuses on the innovative design of a horizontal/vertical axis wind turbine for domestic power generation 24x7 in built-up areas with a minimum threshold of wind availability using wind resource mapping for suitable installation locations. R&D involves:
